Nigeria's Gold Rush

The Nigerian athlete, Ruel Ishaku, has won a gold medal in weighting event at the Commonwealth Games.

Ishaku’s victory, in the Elite Athletes with Disabilities (EAD) category, takes Nigeria’s total medal count to 12.

Nigeria was not allowed to compete in the able-bodied weighting categories because of the ban imposed on the country when three of its lifters violated the anti-doping rules at international competitions.
