Missing Athletes Seek Political Asylum

Six of the 15 Sierra Leonean athletes who disappeared from the Commonwealth Games village in Melbourne have reported voluntarily to the Australian police; seeking political asylum – a world away from home.

They have now been issued with Temporary Protection Visas. But one thing is certain though; there is a big risk ahead. Honestly, the road to the Promised Land is not for the faint hearted!

In fact, come to think of it, there is no smooth or reliable path through the asylum-seeking maze.

But for the missing athletes, the struggle for freedom continues!
