More Africans Apply for Political Asylum

More Africans come in from the cold! Six more athletes from Sierra Leone have decided to surrender to the Australian authorities, after absconding from the Commonwealth Games village in Melbourne.

Just like their team mates, they have been granted Temporary Protection Visas which will allow them to apply for refugee status in Australia.

This brings to 12 the number of Sierra Leonean athletes seeking refuge in the land Down Under this week.

These athletes genuinely believe that they will be persecuted if they return home to Sierra Leone. And there is public sympathy for their plight.
